Activities are scheduled every day of the week. Morning socials, strength training, gardening, field trips, music, and more.
HillHouse provides a wide variety of regularly-occurring activities, many of which are specifically designed for residents with varying degrees of mobility or function. We always welcome new ideas from residents and family members and are happy to discuss special activity requests.
Daily Activities HillHouse activities staff are in the building every day. They engage residents in formal programs and also see residents one-on-one each day. Daily activities often include exercise class, the morning social hour, art appreciation, or special group activities.
Dining Together Visits to HillHouse from family and friends are strongly encouraged at any time of day or night and visitors are welcome to dine with residents at any meal free of charge (no advance notice required).
Special dining outings include lunch at local restaurants, picnics by the pond or on scenic bus rides.
Performance and Cultural Activities Music events are popular at HillHouse and we schedule regular live entertainment such as sing-a-longs, visits from local churches for hymn-singing, local musician concerts, and dance groups.
Local schoolchildren also visit regularly.
Special cultural outings include museum and theater trips.
Field Trips Community outings are scheduled weekly and are often a scenic ride for fresh air but may include such special destinations such as the local holiday parades, Rocky Ridge Orchard for apple-picking, Boothbay's Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the Maine Flower Show in Portland, the Maine Wildlife Park, or beach trips.
Mail/Newspapers/Shopping Mail and newspapers are delivered daily, and shopping trips are scheduled at residents’ request.
Beauty Shop The HillHouse beauty shop is open every Thursday and is staffed by a local beautician.
HillHouse staff can assist residents with scheduling hair appointments (at resident expense).
Religious Services We offer a regular schedule of religious services and local church members often make informal visits.
Holiday Events HillHouse celebrates all the traditional holidays, usually with a resident party or a special meal, gathering, or treat. Family and friends are always invited and warmly welcomed.
My mother was correct when she would say that she and Dad had "landed in the lap of luxury." She meant the whole environment and setting (her great view out the windows) were perfect, with extraordinary people to match.
